Nothing but Thieves, Manchester Academy
So what I thought would be my average Thursday night of sitting at home watching tv and relaxing, I spontaneously found myself standing in the middle of a packed out audience of quirky Indie kids, although I was alone I immediately was made to feel part of something bigger! The infectious atmosphere that the 'Nothing But Thieves' gig gave off was addictive and immediately made me a fan!
The stage was decked out in fluorescent tube lighting only to be followed by episodes of strobe lighting during the upbeat numbers, something I could describe as a wall of paparazzi hungry for a picture of the rousing crowd, the back drop of the stage was circle beaming with gold light to symbolise the #IAMWHOLE campaign from YMCA England, a project that the band take close to their hearts this gave the gig a personal touch and brought awareness to this important campaign.
Opening the show was 'The Airways' and 'Vant' who brought the buzzing crowd to life, their electric feel and contagious energy had the crowds of people on a complete high and ecstatic for the headline act to follow, Nothing but Thieves exploded onto the stage with their opening number 'itch' (a personal favourite of mine) was an epic build up to their set of a whopping 11 numbers! But due to an encore treated us to 3 more songs to showcase their iconic sound.
The lively gig was slowed down for the song 'lover, please stay' an intimate, emotional number that broke down the barrier of us and them and created a united feel in the academy, a tearful audience sang along to the haunting track, this gave us an insight into the creative versatility of the group because of how they were able to take us on a roller coaster of highs and lows exposing us to a whole range of emotions!

A 'stealing' performance left me and the audience eager for more, I was touched with how the bands success humbled them and they made it clear how thankful they were of all our support.
